IRON MAIDEN Announce eBay Auction and Hard Rock Café Event
November 22, 2005IRON MAIDEN have arranged with eBay to auction some specially signed items to raise money towards the Clive Burr MS Fund.
This follows their special one-night performance in September at the Hammersmith Apollo, which raised over £120,000.
The fund was set up in 2002 when the band discovered that their ex-bandmate, drummer Clive Burr, suffered from multiple sclerosis. The band then performed three sell-out nights at the Brixton Academy with all proceeds being used to help Clive and other MS sufferers with their treatment and care and improve the quality of their life. The fund has helped with specialist equipment, transport and essential living expenses.
Many fans have also performed their own fund raising activities with special gigs of their own and numerous other contributions via the band's web site and fan club.
The items included in the auction are a Fender Stratocaster donated and used by guitarist Dave Murray, tour programs and rare special event shirts from the night at Hammersmith all signed by the band and Clive Burr himself.
The auction starts on 8.00 p.m. (GMT) on November 24 and runs for ten days so get those bids in.
The winning bidders on each auction will be contacted to arrange delivery once the auction has ended.
Payment can be made via PayPal or by check or international money orders made payable in pound sterling to the "Clive Burr MS Trust", although no items will be dispatched until the cheques have been cleared. Details will be made clear on each auction page.
Menawhile on Tuesday, Novemebr 29 there is a special event being held at the London Hard Rock Cafe.
Clive Burr's drum kit will be being presented to the cafe to be added to their collection of memorabilia. Clive will be there to be presented with a check donated to the Clive Burr MS Fund and many other rock 'n' roll luminaries both in terms of fellow players and the media.
The event is to celebrate the release of a Hard Rock DVD charting the history of much of the memorabilia that they are famous for in each of their cafes around the world.
The event was organized by Sam Hill who some will know as the organizer of the special "Maiden Days" at The Ruskin Arms to help raise further money for Clive's Trust.
The newly refurbished vault at the London Hard Rock Cafe has numerous treasures, including guitars from Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon's handwritten lyrics.
